Heavy Traffic magazine w/ editor/publisher Patrick McGraw (NM75)

Founding editor/publisher of NYC magazine Heavy Traffic on the role of fiction in a time of technical imagination.

Heavy Traffic is a fiction magazine based in New York City. Designed by Richard Turley and featuring new writing by the likes of Honor Levy, Dean Kissick, Olivia Kan Sperling, John Kelsey, Madeline Cash, Seth Price, and Zans Brady Krohn, it’s one of those publications that seems to thoroughly understand—and reflect—the mood of its time. Its founding editor and publisher, Patrick McGraw joins New Models on this episode to talk about text-based content and the role of fiction in particular in a time of (cue: Flusser) the technical imagination.

This episode also kicks off a Heavy Traffic / New Models residency, wherein pieces from the print magazine will be read (mostly) by their authors. First up is Patrick reading “Buddy Mold” by Marcus Mamourian, which ran in Heavy Traffic issue 2. It follows directly after our conversation. Stay tuned for more readings in the coming weeks!
